How to Pick the Best Glass Igloo Hotel?

You are probably overwhelmed by the options. Don’t worry, I would be too if it was one of my first trips to Finland, and I would like to choose the best hotels to see the northern lights. Here is the list of things to consider when choosing your Finland igloo hotel:

  1. Set a daily (nightly) budget: obviously, the price will be the most limiting factor, so set a certain budget that you don’t mind spending for a night (or more).
  2. Choose the location based on your other activities or flights: the more north you are, the better your chances, but don’t be disappointed about it if you go to ‘only’ the southern part of Lapland (Kemi or Rovaniemi). Although you have slightly lower chances, if the auroras will show, most likely, you would be seeing them in both locations.
As there are glass igloos all across Lapland, make sure you chose one near the activities you would like to do. For example, Rovaniemi if you want to see Santa, Levi if you wanna hit the slopes, or Inari if you are more into getting to know the Saami culture.
  3. Or choose one of the most prestigious places– like the Kakslauttanen Igloos in Saariselka.
